Easter Smith

Easter Christine "Chris" Smith, 73, of Mansfield, died Sunday, February 14, 2010, at MedCentral Mansfield. Born April 12, 1936, in Louisa, KY, she was the daughter of Sherman A. and Dora Ramey Salyers. She had worked as a dental assistant and was a member of Faith Outreach in Shelby. She loved to knit, crochet, gardening, canning and enjoyed making things for other people. Chris was always willing to donate to charities that need help and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Amvets and was a lifetime member of the VFW #3494.

Surviving are her children, Geneva Dewey Feltner of Genoa City, WI, Rodney Smith of Florida, Ricky Smith of Mansfield, Jerry Smith and Kathryn Jackson; 10 grandchildren, Joseph, Jeremy, Amy, Harley, Ricky, Jr., Isiah, Dewey, Jr., Kristina, Ambrosia and Patricia; four great grandchildren, Stephanie, Joshua, Tyler and Aaden; and a newly expected great grandchild; brothers and sisters, Blanche York, Arnold Salyers, Ruth Barrett, Clyde Salyer, Pauline Heidecker, Earl Salyers, Lee Salyers and Dorothy Salyers; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; her longtime companion, John Smith; and three loving dogs, Sassy, Skeeter and Pepe.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, OH 44902. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Margaret Merritt. Burial will follow in Springmill Cemetery.
