Edward Eckstein

Edward A. Eckstein, 49, of Mansfield died early Tuesday morning, December 24, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Ed went home to be with his Lord after an extended illness. He was born August 25, 1953 in Bucyrus, Ohio to Lester Edward Eckstein and Hazel Eckstein Ridgeway. He graduated from Wynford High School in 1971 and had lived in the Crawford County area until moving to Mansfield in 1997. He was employed with Lifetouch Church Directories of Galion. Ed was a very active member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church. He was a Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed woodworking and feeding and watching birds. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all. Most of all, he enjoyed life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 5 years, Holly Frost Eckstein; four stepchildren, Christopher Peters, and his wife Gayle of Mississippi, Randall Peters of Strongsville, Ohio, Mary Ann Peters and Kathryn Peters, both of Mansfield; two step-grandchildren, Bryan and Shayla; four children, Shanell Smith and her husband, Todd of Galion, Katrina Eckstein of Galion, Nichoel Eckstein of Crestline and Joseph Eckstein of Galion; five grandchildren, Tiffany, Joshua, Chelsea, Gabriel, and Zackary; mother, Hazel Ridgeway of Bucyrus; a sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Kurt Hansford of Upper Sandusky, Ohio; mother-in-law, Janalee Frost of Mansfield; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dianne and Lee Owens of Akron, Ohio, Penny and Rick Tamburrino of Mansfield and Amy and Bob Solon of Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Eckstein and father-in-law, Leonard Frost.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Sunday, December 29, from 2-5 p.m. and one hour prior to funeral services that will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m., conducted by Rev. Bonnie Peltomaa. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
