
Edwin L. Lutz of Mansfield died early Monday morning, May 24, 2004, at his home after a 7-month long illness. He was a lifelong Ashland and Mansfield area resident, graduating from Ashland High School in 1945. Edwin retired from Fisher Body/General Motors after 35 years of service. He was a member of Ashland Masonic Lodge #151, F. & A.M., receiving his 50-year pin in April 2004, Ashland Chapter and Council, Mansfield Commandry #21, Cincinnati Valley of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, and founding member of Experimental Aircraft Association. Edwin was a very active pilot and instructor, licensed aircraft mechanic and accomplished machinist. After his retirement, he was also active in drag racing. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his sons and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Christina Boggs Lutz; three sons and their spouses, Jack and Karen Hout of Logan, Ohio, Dennis Hout of Granville, and Michael and Sheila Hout of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Adam, Heather, Lyric, Avery, Tiffany, Evan and Cathrine; two great-grandchildren, Devon and Wynter; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Janet Lutz of Ashland; sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Charlie Mishey of Mansfield; and five nephews and one niece.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Presbyterian Church in Lexington, officiated by Pastor Jack Sharp. Friends may call at the church one-hour prior to the service. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the family whom will divide them between Lexington Presbyterian Church and MedCentral Hospice.
