

Evelyn Marie Hassinger Schneider, 84, passed away Thursday evening, December 6, 2018, in Redmond, Washington. Born January 31, 1934, in Mansfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Merle L. and Marjorie J. (Hitchman) Hassinger.
She graduated with honors from Ashland University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Evelyn was a fifth grade teacher for Wooster Heights Elementary for over 30 years. She had a wonderful caring and loving spirit that extended to children, her church, the community and most of all her family. Evelyn was a faithful volunteer for Hospice of North Central Ohio beginning in 1997. She was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church for many years, where she led a ladies prayer group and taught Sunday school. In her free time she could be found sewing, reading, painting, listening to music or adding to her rock collection.
She is survived by a son, Michael (Marcia) Schneider of Mansfield; two daughters, Dana Dupaix of TX and Lori (Bob) Beiker of WA; eight grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, William "Bill" D. Schneider; and a son, Scott Schneider.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2018, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. George Reece officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
