
Frederick E. 'Fred' Heuss, 84, of Mansfield, died Friday, January 26, 2007 at Triumph Hospital after an extended illness. Born February 2, 1922, in Mansfield, he was the son of George F. and Mary E. Gadfield Heuss. Fred retired in 1984 from General Motors where he worked as a tool and die maker. He was a member of Amvets Post #31 and the Liederkranz. Fred enjoyed golfing, especially at Valley View and sports. A man of strong conviction, he was an honest, caring person who loved his family and taking care of his dog. He was awarded the Purple Heart during WWII, while serving in the Army Air Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Lou Capen Leicy-Heuss; three daughters, Pamela Bernie Partin of Butler, Vicki Dininger and Amy Ventrone, both of Ontario; three stepdaughters, Sharon Bob Bowden of Mansfield, Cindi Pat McMahon of Charlotte, NC, and Sara Greg Williams of Cuyahoga Falls; a stepson, Chuck Diane Leicy of Ontario; eight grandchildren, Kimberly J.C. Walker of Mansfield, Melissa Ian Alamillo of Lexington, Christopher Amy Beam of Shelby, David Dininger of OK, Dan Dininger of Ontario, Josh Dininger of CA, James Ventrone of Huber Heights, and Matt Ventrone of Ontario; ten step grandchildren, Tess Jake Jacobs, Heather Ken Kraft and Beth Scott Whitson, all of Mansfield, Kim Andy Romoser of Bellville, Carrie McMahon of GA, Kristin McMahon and James McMahon, both of NC, Brandy Leicy of Shelby, Holly Williams and Hunter Williams, both of Cuyahoga Falls; seven great-grandchildren; fourteen step great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard 'Bud' Rita Heuss of San Diego, CA; three sisters, Bernice Enlow, Ethel Lemmert and Marilyn Dr. Eugene Calver, all of Mansfield; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Heuss, granddaughter, Tracie, parents, brother, Robert Heuss and sister, Edith Rickett.
Friends may call Wednesday, January 31 from 4-7 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Memorial services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Dan Dickman. Military graveside services conducted by Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Ohio Veteran's Hospital.
