Gene Cairns

Gene L. Cairns, 66, of 1112 Bellaire Dr. died Sunday October 8, 2000 at MedCentral Mansfield following a sudden illness. Mr. Cairns was born September 30, 1934 in Richland County, Ohio and has resided in the Mansfield area all of his life. He retired from General Motors as an electrician after 33 years of service. Mr. Cairns had previously been a school bus driver in the Ontario School System. Mr. Cairns was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce Starr Paullin Cairns; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Tony Kim of Waynesville, Ohio; one son, Gene Tanner of Lakeland, Florida; one daughter-in-law, Tina Tanner of Lakeland, Florida; grandchildren, Leigha and Lesley Kim; and Chelsea Tanner; two step daughters and one step-son-in-law, Barbara and Bill Warnes of Ashland; and Lori Wolf of Wooster, Ohio; step grandchildren, Angie and Holly Warnes; and Josh, Jared and Jordan Wolf; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jesse and Millie Cairns Jr. of Englewood, Florida; and Danny and Mary Cairns of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Magdalena Miller Cairns Sr.; and two sisters, Della Maurer and Carrie Cairns.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. Private graveside services will be held in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
