
Gertrude M. Baumberger Johnson, age 88, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at Oak Grove Manor. She was born March 12, 1916, in Mansfield to David and Florence Boughner Baumberger. Gertrude retired in 1976 from Neisner's and attended Mansfield Freewill Baptist Church. She was a member of Moose Ladies Auxiliary, volunteered at Conard House and played softball for the Mansfield Aces. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lois and Fred Bauer, Deborah and Ralph Thomas, all of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Twyla Koehler, Carrie Jamieson, Jeremy Thomas, Jill Balas, Jamie Zellner; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; four brothers, Roy Baumberger, Richard Baumberger, Donald Baumberger, all of Mansfield, and Robert Baumberger of Oklahoma; and a sister, Jean Henke of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kyle E. Johnson, whom she married June 16, 1939 and died May 8, 1968; four brothers, Charles, Ray, Dale and Paul Baumberger; two sisters, Gloria Yetzer and Marguerite Hilton; and a grandson, Fred Bauer.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Friday, April 9 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Pastor Mark Bailey. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
