
Gladys Wilson, 91, of Mansfield, died Friday, May 1, 2009 at MedCentral Hospital. Born April 12, 1918 in Wayne County, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Calvin and Corda Blevins Damron. An area homemaker, she loved flowers, gardening, quilting, and sewing. She was an avid reader who loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Bonnie Jerry Whitehead, Lavina Russell Messimer, Brenda Chance, Darrel Wilson, Danny Wilson, Brian Wilson, and Ricky Wilson all of Mansfield, and Rita Lon Culp of Lucas; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Norma Sharader of Bellville, Carol Lendon of Mansfield, Ruby Fragret of Creston, Ohio, and Wanda Pratt of Marengo, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George D. Wilson in 1999; sons, Roy, George B., and Larry Wilson; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Annie Parsons and Delphia Damron; and brothers, Garland Damron and Calvin Damron, Jr.
Graveside services will be held Monday, May 4, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Mansfield Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Henry Parker. Friends may call from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
