Gloria Lee Adkins, age 79, of Mansfield passed away early Friday morning, April 3, 2026, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. She courageously fought a decades-long battle with cancer with a smile on her face and is now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was born on May 24, 1946, in Emerson, Kentucky, to the late Myrtle (Davis) and Homer Lee Owens. Gloria formerly worked at Mansfield Plastics. An avid bowler, Gloria was a member of several leagues and even appeared on the television show “Bowling for Dollars”. She was a past member of the Church of God and had a servant’s heart when it came to helping others. She enjoyed playing Bingo, camping, fishing, boating and especially shopping.
An outgoing, social butterfly, Gloria never met a stranger in her life. She considered herself very lucky to have not only a biological family, but a large community family as well. She was thankful for all the unique bonds she created during her daily life. She had a special place in her heart reserved for animals and enjoyed feeding her groundhog, “Frankie”.
Gloria is survived by three children, Tim (Molly) Adkins, Kim Adkins, and Myrtle (Denny) Wray; one granddaughter, Melissa (Kenny) Scott; four grandsons, Tim Adkins, Daniel Wray, Dennis Wray, and Dillon Wray; a great-grandson, Colt Scott; Patricia “Patty” Burkhalter who was like a daughter to her; special friends, Louise Wright and Jane Noblet; a cousin, Denver Wright; and her loving and faithful canine companions, Lucky and Sparky.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Carbone; and two of her best friends, Bobbie Hay and Betty Reddie.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Wappner Funeral Directors and Crematory-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service conducted by Pastor Jay Hill will follow at 1:30 pm. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Cemetery.
