
Gregory E. Baker, 56, of Mansfield, died early Monday morning, November 15, 2004, at SCCI Hospital after an extended illness. He was born December 16, 1947, in Mansfield to Ervin W. and Hermie Noble Baker. Mr. Baker was a 1965 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and a member of the Bellville Amvets Post #43. He was employed as a truck driver with Bissman Company and State Machine Products. He was an avid softball player, golfer, computer enthusiast and animal lover. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was a gunnery sergeant serving three tours of duty in Vietnam and earning two Purple Hearts.
He is survived by his wife, Trudy Baker; brother, Richard E. Baker; mother-in-law, Helen Cross; sisters-in-law, Carol Everett and Linda Payne; and nieces and nephews, Jeffrey A. Swisher, Jamie L. Honaker, Bruce M. Caugherty, Wynne Everett, Kevin Brian Baker, Bret A. Swisher, Rhett Everett, Jennifer Forschner, and Stacie E. Caugherty. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Virginia Eileen Shaffer and Eletha M. Caugherty and niece, Suzanne M. Swisher.
