

She was born March 20, 1922, in Ashland County, the daughter of Glen W. and Elva M. (Berry) Kline. She was a 1940 graduate of Polk High School.
Helen married Vilas (Bud) Earley on November 7, 1942, who preceded her in death on May 8, 2007.
When Bud was stationed in New Orleans with the Navy, Helen worked as a riveter inside airplane wings.
After moving back from New Orleans, she remained a resident of Ashland County for the rest of her life. Helen worked at Ashland Pump & Supply, and retired from Ashland College in 1985 after having worked in the accounts payable office for 18 years. After her retirement at the college, she worked at Pump House Antiques. Helen was also a reading volunteer at Taft Elementary School. Additionally, she volunteered at Hospice and Samaritan Hospital, where she worked up until this past fall. She felt very fortunate to have always enjoyed all the places she worked.
Helen belonged to an Anniversary Club of 12 ladies that met together once a month for over 60 years. She was also a member of the Ashland University Heritage Club.
She has been a member at Emmanuel United Methodist Church since 1948, where she was a Sunday School Teacher for 50 years. She was a member of the Crusaders Sunday school class and served on many committees throughout the years. She was the church historian for numerous years, and in 2010, received the Mid-Ohio District Historian of the Year Award.
She is survived by her son, David Earley of West Palm Beach, FL; her daughter, Kay Green of Ashland; three grandsons, Todd (Susan) Green of Birmingham, AL, Scott (Kathy) Green of Ashland, and Tyler Green of Ashland; five great-grandchildren, Paige, Lauren and Brooklyn Green of Ashland, and Ethan and Evan Green of Birmingham, AL; sister, Joyce Imhoff of Ashland; sister-in-law, Loretha Kline of Polk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud; son-in-law, Loren Green; great granddaughter, Taylor Green; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gladys and Noble Brinker and Maxine and Karl Koons; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Anne Kline; brother, Ken Kline; brother-in-law, Paul Imhoff; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Frances and Howard Stotler; nephew, Bob Miller; and special niece, Karen Imhoff.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue, Ashland. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 322 Cleveland Avenue, Ashland, with the Rev. Mike Namy and Rev. Jeff Coggins officiating. Family graveside services will be held at Ashland County Memorial Park at a later date.
