Iona Weiss

Iona Fay Weiss, 73, of Mansfield, died late Monday evening, April 5, 2010, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born April 5, 1937 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Mary Wade Aumend. Iona had attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church and enjoyed artistic oil painting and remodeling. Her greatest joy was found in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Trudy Gene Lawhorn of Shelby, Vicki Ross of Van Alstyne, TX, Theresa Frank Lawhorn and Steven Ross, all of Mansfield; three stepchildren, Joyce Roberts and Christina Paul Evans, all of Mansfield and Chester Fidler of Galion; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; several step brothers and sisters; and a special friend, Margo Harrod of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Woodford B Ross; second husband, Bruno Weiss; infant son; parents; brother, Edward Fry; and sister, Mary Ann Frye.

Friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
