
Ivan Sloboda, 69, of Mansfield, died Friday, October 20, 2006 at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby. Born August 21, 1937 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, he was the son of Gustav and Radmila Unukovic Sloboda. He was the owner and operator of his family business, Ivan Sloboda Plumbing and Heating for over 37 years. Mr. Sloboda was a member of Mansfield Liederkranz since April 28, 1960. He enjoyed soccer and fishing. A respected and very respectful man, he loved hard, played hard, and loved his family very much.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marcina Bowers Sloboda; three sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Barbara Sloboda, Robert and Lori Sloboda, and Doug and Kim Sloboda, all of Mansfield; eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Mark, Alexandra, Tim, Greg, Kelsee, Weslee, and Lauren Sloboda, all of Mansfield; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Vera Smith, Dusica and Misha Sotirovic, and Nada and Jovica Stankov; and a host of dear nieces, nephews, and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2006 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Bruce Copley. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or the American Stroke Association.
