
Jacob Joseph 'Joe' Bishop, 81, of Lewisburg, Ohio died at the home of his daughter Thursday, November 28, 2002 after an extended illness. Mr. Bishop was born December 10, 1920 in Richland County, Ohio living in the Mansfield area most of his life. He retired from Therm-O-Disc in 1983. He was a member of Trimble Road Baptist Church and the VFW of Ontario and past member of Masonic Lodge Marquis F & A M. He taught Sunday school for many years and enjoyed building computers for his whole family. Mr. Bishop was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Corps where he was a pilot in the South Pacific.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary A. Perman Bishop; three daughters and sons-in-law, Chuck & Julie Walls of Clarkston, Michigan, Bob & Jan Hartenstein of Lewisburg, Ohio and Donn & JoLynne Shaffer of Miamisburg, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary E. Bell of Mansfield and Grace & Stephen Reid of Chicago, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob J. & Maude Warrell Bishop; and two sisters, Margaret Utz and Martha Mayer.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. John Wiseman. Military services will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45420.
