James Rigby Albro, 91, of Mansfield, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Born on April 11, 1933, to the late Frank and May (Muth) Albro, James led a life full of dedication, kindness, and a love for others.
A proud graduate of Madison High School, Class of 1951, James went on to serve his country in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. After his service, he returned to the family farm, working on the Albro Family farm for over 20 years, from 1965. James also worked at Tappin Company from 1968, where he was known for his strong work ethic and warm personality. He came out of retirement at the age of 71 to work at Wal-Mart for 10 years until the age of 81.
James was a devoted member of the Little Washington Congregational Church for many years. For 55 years, he cultivated beautiful flowers and created stunning floral displays. James loved his flowers. His flower arrangements were displayed at the church every Sunday. Each week he would then take the flowers to the cemetery and place them on family members graves. A true testament to his love for his community, James remembered the birthdays and anniversaries of his church family with a special card for each of them on their special day. At Christmas time he would give out over 200 cards to his family and friends. His commitment to his church family and his enthusiasm for everything he did made him a beloved figure to all who knew him. A people person at heart, James was known for his kindness, generosity, and joy in helping others.
James is survived by his siblings, Shirley McClain and Mikey (Sharley) Maglott, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly. James was preceded in death by his parents as well as his siblings, Betty Albro, Helen McClellan, Mary Snider, John Albro, and Alice Maglott.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 4 pm until 6 pm at 98 South Diamond Street, and again on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 10 am until 11 am, with a funeral service following at 11 am. Pastor Mike Ziadeh will officiate. James will be laid to rest at Mansfield Memorial Park with the Joint Veterans Burial Squad performing Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Southern Care Hospice or Little Washington Congregational Church. Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the Albro family.
