James Paris Ashley, Sr., 71, of Mansfield, died Sunday, August 19, 2007 at Mifflin Care Center after a brief illness. Born December 4, 1935 in Bellevue, he was the son of R.O. 'Jim' and Elsie Gray Ashley. He was formerly employed as a real estate broker with Century 21 and All Gold Realty. He attended The Ohio State University. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, member of Mansfield Masonic Lodge #35, and the Mansfield Shrine Club. He enjoyed fishing with his son. Mr. Ashley was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by a daughter, Alana William Helbig; son, James P. Sandra Ashley, Jr., four grandchildren, Carolyn Ashley, Sarah Payne, Phillip Helbig and Abby Helbig; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Helbig and Alyvia Herrick.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 23 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Military graveside services conducted by Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
