
James Wallace Carey, Sr., 56, of Cleveland, died Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at New Life Hospice in Lorain. Born July 5, 1951 in Houston, Texas, he was the son of William and Eleanor Carey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and enjoyed researching wars throughout the centuries. A roofer by trade, he enjoyed fishing and sports. Jim will be fondly remembered as a proud father and grandfather with refined taste.
He is survived by a daughter, Pandora Carey of Los Angeles, CA; son, James Wallace Carey, Jr. of Manhattan, NY; two grandsons, Jarelle Dampier and Evan Cansler, both of Los Angeles, CA; two brothers, Matt Phyllis Carey and Mike Carey; two nephews; former wife and friend, Retha Carey; and his beloved feline companion, Luca. His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery with military honors by Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail.
