

James "Jim" Richard Desiderio, 84, of Ontario, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Born August 27, 1934 in Templeton, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Nick and Geraldine (Mazzarella) Desiderio.
Jim enlisted in the United States Army in 1955. He began his career at PPG in Ford City, Pennsylvania and was a part of the 59 'ers who started the Crestline plant of PPG. Jim worked for PPG for 43 1/2 years until his retirement. He was a 30 year member of Ontario First Church of God.
Jim was a 32 Degree Mason and was a member of the Crestline/Galion Lodge #414 F&AM and the Venus Lodge #152 F&AM. He was also a member of the Ontario VFW and the Ontario AMVETS. He was a Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed going to the Indians spring training in Florida. Jim also enjoyed John Wayne and cowboy movies, putting up holiday lights, mowing his lawn, going to Amish country and visiting his friends. His greatest enjoyment was attending his grandchildren and great grandchildrens' sporting events, activities and his family was his number one priority.
He is survived by his wife, Clarice (Rupert) Desiderio; three daughters, Beth (Steven) Desiderio-Truax, Cara (Mark) Riley and Rachelle (Edward) Gallo; ten grandchildren, Brittany (Steve) Hobson, Kaylyn (Jon) Anderson, Nick (Sidney) Truax, Dianna Truax, Brenna Truax, Joe (Jessica) Riley, Lauren Riley, Kathryn Riley, Gianna Gallo and Maria Gallo; eight great grandchildren, Bella and Nora Hobson, Violet and Charlotte Anderson, Ema and Eve Truax, Matthew Riley and Lillian Shepherd; a brother, Samuel Desiderio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Guy Desiderio.
Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday November 5, 2018 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 South Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario where Masonic Services will be held at 7:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Larry Collins. Military honors will be presented by the Richland County Joint Burial Squad following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army.
