James "Jimmy" P. Gee Sr., 67, of Shelby, passed away suddenly Wednesday morning, September 14, 2016, following a long illness, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born December 20, 1948, in Mansfield, Ohio, he was one of nine children of the late Arnold C. Gee, Sr. and Hazel E. (Perry) Gee.
He attended Mansfield Senior High School and retired from CSX Railroad where he worked for 38 years. He was a member of BMWED and Union Local #1900. Jimmy attended Stiving Road Freewill Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was an active man who enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and hunting. His times deer hunting-which consisted of driving to the airport and watching-with his mother-in-law were special. He hosted many fish frys for family and friends and was a fun guy to be around. Jimmy was a fan of all sports, but especially enjoyed football, with the Browns and Buckeyes being his favorite teams.
Jimmy's family was most important to him. No matter what else was going on he made time to show his family, especially his adorable nieces and nephews, just how special they are. Loving, loyal, giving, and generous, his family and friends will never forget the wonderful times they spent together. You would never find a more genuine and unique man. His favorite saying, "If you need anything, call me" wasn't just said at the end of every phone call or parting, it was heartfelt and followed through on many occasions.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Michelle Bond Gee; son, James "Jamie" Gee, Jr. of Mansfield; and daughter, Heather (Jason) Hoskins of Shelby; brothers, John (Veronica) Gee of Summerville, SC, Arnold Jr. (Marlene) Gee, Glen (Judy) Gee and Rick (Pam) Gee, all of Mansfield; sisters, Ann (James) Owens, Willa Walters, Sharon (Billy) Link and Deb (Roy) Crose, all of Mansfield. Jimmy is also survived by his mother-in-law, Bonnie Bond of Mansfield, who he regarded as his second mother; brother-in-law, Donnie (Karen) Edwards of Mansfield; sister-in-law, Brenda Ewers of Johnsville; and many special nieces, nephews, and dear family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Dalton Bond; brother-in-law, Gary Bond; and nephew, James A. Owens, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
There was nothing more important to Jimmy than his family, and with this in mind, instead of sending flowers, take your children fishing, go on a trip, or spend valuable time with your family. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Stiving Road Freewill Baptist Church.
