
James Samuel Perdue, Sr., age 62, of 334 Grandview Ave., died Wednesday, August 22, 2001 at MedCentral Mansfield after a long illness. Mr. Perdue was born February 3, 1939 in Jonesboro, Georgia, to the late Walter and Alice Williams Perdue. He retired from General Motors in January 2001 after 32 years of service. Mr. Perdue was a member of New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church, and the American legion Post #676. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 41 years, Sadie M. Perdue; three daughters and son-in-law, Joyce A. Windom, Dorothy L. Perdue and Pamela Ray Thompson, all of Mansfield; three sons, James S. Perdue, Jr. of Columbus, and Terry and Steve Johnson of Mansfield; two sisters and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Perdue of Mansfield and Catherine and Roscoe West of Detroit, Michigan; a special aunt, Sarah Norwood of Jonesboro, Georgia; special brother, Eddie Harris; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Hugh Floyd Perdue and Walter Perdue, Jr.
Friends may call Monday, August 27, 2001 from 6-8 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Beginnings Full Gospel Church on Marion Ave. conducted by Rev. Fred Gilbert. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at 334 Grandview Ave.
