John Dunn

John Allen Dunn, age 55, of 6621 North Hills Drive, Raleigh, North Carolina, died unexpectedly Thursday evening December 19, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Mr. Dunn was born January 3, 1947 in Mansfield, living in the Mansfield area most of his life, before moving to Raleigh, North Carolina. He worked for Ritter's Office Supplies for many years. Mr. Dunn was a graduate of Malabar High School Class of 1965 and a veteran of the United States Navy, serving as a medic on the Lexington during the Vietnam Era. He loved golfing and sailing. He was a member of the Wake County Brain Injury Association Support Group. Mr. Dunn was fun loving, caring and a great father.

Surviving are a daughter, Christine Dunn of Cleveland, Ohio; his mother, Miriam Dunn of Mansfield, three sisters and a brother-in-law, Sandra Rice of Mentor, Ohio, Melissa Brauchler of Smithville, Ohio and Melinda & Daniel Drouhard of Mansfield, Ohio; a brother and sister-in-law, David & Judy Dunn of Lexington, Ohio; a granddaughter; Katie Jones of Cleveland, Ohio; six nieces, a nephew and many dear friends. His father, C. Smith Dunn, an infant brother, Jerry Dunn and his fiancée' Gaynelle Hudgins, preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Father Lee Domeneck. Military graveside services will be held at Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wake County Brain Injury Association Support Group.
