
John Ferrell, 52, of Mansfield, died May 1, 2007 of a sudden illness. Born August 24, 1954 in Charleston, West Virginia, he was the son of Hugh Sr. and Betty J. Mainous Ferrell. A 1972 graduate of Madison High School, he retired from General Motors after 26 years of service. Mr. Ferrell loved fishing and car rides with his dog. He enjoyed campfires with his family and his granddaughter brought so much enjoyment to his life. A gentle, caring man who loved to see others smile; he was always ready to help other people.
He is survived by one son, Steven Ferrell of Mansfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Meghan and Mark May of Bellville; one granddaughter, Gabreelle May; one brother and sister-in-law, Hugh and Sherry Ferrell II of Amlin; one niece, Karrie and Mark Carlyle of Hilliard; one nephew, Shawn and Bry Ferrell of Galloway; two great nieces, Kaylea Carlyle and Lilly Binion-Ferrell; one great nephew, Hayden Carlyle; one very good friend, Mark Lucas of Mansfield; his dog, Shadow; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Jessica Ferrell.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2007 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors conducted by Rev. Dave Bates. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to A Special Wish Foundation.
