John Allen Hoagland, 67, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at his home after a short illness. Born November 4, 1942, he was the son of Harold Sr. and Esther V. Jones Hoagland. He graduated from Canton McKinley High School in 1960 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. John retired from Armco Steel. He loved sports cars, street rods, and muscle cars. Listening to oldies music will always remind his children of their dad.
He is survived by one daughter, Sarah Hoagland of Mansfield; son, Joseph Hoagland of Mansfield; former wife and the mother of his children, Vicki McCoy of Mansfield; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold Jr. and Debbi Hoagland of Kansas, and James and Lou Hoagland of Alabama; sister and brother-in-law, Eydie and Kenneth Hogue of Canton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Ontario Christian Church conducted by Pastor Randy Allen. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice. Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of John Hoagland.
