John Strong

John T. Strong, 85, of Bellville, died December 14, 2006, at Country Court Nursing Home. He went home to be with the Lord early Thursday morning. Born March 5, 1921, he was the son of Aaron and Daisey Reed Strong. He retired after 36 years of service with Empire-Detroit Steel Mill and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He attended the Nazarene Church in Fredericktown. John was a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Army.

He is survived by four sons, John Strong, Jr. and Ron Strong, both of Bellville, Larry D. Marilyn Strong and Terry Loduska Strong, all of Fredericktown; three daughters, Phyllis Bill Westenbarger of Madison Heights, VA, Nancy Ron Oldfield of Lexington and Mary Beth Willard Dickerson of Walhonding; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Esther Strong of Willard, JoAnn Strong and JoAnn Sharp, both of Fredericktown. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Louise Strong, son, Danny Strong, great-granddaughter, Marice Paige Burwell, parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call Monday, December 18, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Turner officiating. Military graveside services conducted by Knox County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will follow in Forest Cemetery, Fredericktown.
