

Judith A. Sampsel, 54, of Mansfield, died early Sunday morning, August 29, 2004, at St. Ann's Mt. Carmel Medical Center in Westerville. Judy went home to be with her Lord after a courageous 11-year battle with cancer. She was born November 29, 1949, in Omar, West Virginia to the late Louis and Margaret Butcher Wargo and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Ontario High School in 1968 and worked 34 years at Kroger Company, most of it at the Lexington Avenue branch. She was a member of First Church of God on Park Avenue West. She enjoyed painting ceramics and spending time with her grandchildren. A favorite daily activity was drinking coffee and people-watching at Wal-Mart with her family. She enjoyed the time she spent with all her animals.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, John Sampsel; son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Angie Sampsel of Mansfield; two granddaughters, Haley and Taylor Sampsel; a brother, Robert Wargo of New Hampshire; three sisters and their spouses, Mary and William Bessinger of Galion, Eva and David George of Peru, Indiana and Betty Poole of Pennsylvania; many nieces and nephews; and her special friend, April Wortman of Bellville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Roach and two nephews, Eddie Roach and Michael Ward.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Thursday, September 2 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Larry Collins. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
