

Kenneth R. Parker, 80, of Mansfield, passed away late Friday evening, July 21, 2017, at Colonial Manor Health Care Center. He was born March 8, 1937, in Morehead, Kentucky, one of five sons of the late Lovell and Coney (Cornette) Parker.
After high school, he attended Morehead College. He retired from General Motors after 33 ½ years of service and was a longtime member of Taylortown Community Church. Ken loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a proud member of the NRA and was a Kentucky Colonel. Ken was the co-founder of the Johnny Appleseed Knife Collectors Club and served as recording secretary for 30 years from 1984-2014.
He is survived by his son, Rick Parker of Ontario; a grandson, Kenneth N. (Amy) Parker of Mansfield; two great-grandsons, Anthony Russell and Henry Kenneth; three brothers, Glennis (Becky) Parker of Morehead, KY, Richard (Berniece) Parker of South Charleston, OH, and Larry (Marcella) Parker of Morehead, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, June D. Brown Parker, who passed away on March 8, 2008; and a brother, Leroy Parker.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service conducted by Rev. O. Douglas Tackett will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in Franklin Cemetery, Franklin Church Road, Mansfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Taylortown Community Church.
