

Lester L. Queer Sr., 83, of Mansfield died Monday afternoon August 5, 2002 at his home following a short illness. Mr. Queer was born June 14, 1919 in Akron, Ohio residing in the Mansfield area most of his life. He retired from Mansfield Tire and Rubber after 35 years of service and had worked at Mansfield General Hospital for 7 years. Lester was a member of Ridgeway First Church of God. Mr. Queer was a 13-year veteran of the United States National Guard.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Lester and Joyce Queer Jr. of Mansfield; five daughters and sons-in-law, Pearl and Butcher McCurtain of Oklahoma; Barbara and Fred Hamrich; Betty Cox; Lucille Hedrick; and Amy and Larry Roop all of Mansfield; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hope Walker of Mansfield; Louise Hoff of Portland, Oregon; and Violet Morris of Galion; one brother, Art Bridges of Galion; numerous nieces and nephews; and two canine companions, Coco and Popeye. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Amy Queer; his wife, Mary Queer on March 7, 1996; one son, Daniel Queer and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Wednesday August 7, 2002 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor John Dodds. Military graveside services will be in Oak Grove Memorial Park conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
