Maddie Renee Moritz was born June 12th, 2007 to Frank and Michelle Moritz in Mansfield, Ohio. With broken hearts we watched her leave us on Tuesday, May 7th at Akron Children’s hospital after a sudden illness.
Maddie was an amazing 5 yr. old whose passion inspired all who knew her. Maddie’s short life was filled with love for and from everyone. She brought continual joy to her large family. Maddie was the baby of five children. She was in Kindergarten at the Mansfield Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Her love for learning and reading allowed her to absorb much wisdom in her short life. She liked gardening with mommy, taking walks with daddy, ballet, marching princesses, playing dress up, singing at church, popsicles, sparkles, lip gloss, sitting between mommy and daddy on the couch, doing her chores, reading Jesus stories, soliciting hugs and kisses, going to Great Aunt Penni’s, riding the bus to school with Bruce, and most of all, playing with her friends. Her life was full of purpose, principle, and passion. She is missed more than words could express.
Maddie leaves behind a family that promises to see her again when Jesus returns. Each night she prayed we would all be ready when He comes to take us home. In addition to her parents, Maddie is survived by one “perfect” brother Johnny, three sisters, Whitney, Lindsey, and Sydney whom she adored and admired. Maddie was an auntie to Landon Parker and Lucas Whitmire. She is also survived by great-grandmothers, Helen Moritz and Marguerite Stull; grandparents, F. Thomas & Carol Moritz, Helen Stull, Elaine Tanner & Jimmy Hall; aunts and uncles, Susan Moritz, Margie & Scott Dennison, Tommy & Martha Moritz, Penni & “Papa Joe” Roberts, Ed & Lana Adams, Nauny Moritz and Carole Terry; loving cousins, Zach, Dalton, Dylan, Erica, Megan, Mia, Ella, and Avery; and many additional second cousins and hundreds of friends that Maddie loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by grandpa Donald Stull and great aunt Marianna Karr.
There will be a celebration of Maddie’s life at the Mansfield Seventh-Day Adventist Church 1040 W. Cook Rd. Mansfield, Ohio on Sunday, May 12th at 4p.m. with Pastor Edward Marton officiating. Maddie loved pink, if you are able to wear pink, feel inspired to do so. A private family burial will be held at Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the church in care of Grace Place Ministries for future development of a community outreach center and to feed the hungry and provide health care to those in need.
The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve Maddie's family.
