
Margaret A. Carson, 85, of Mansfield, died Sunday, August 17, 2008, at Woodlawn Health Care Facility following an extended illness. Born September 17, 1922, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, she was the daughter of Walter R. and Edna Hinig Ritter. She attended New Philadelphia Schools and graduated in 1939. She was a Stafford Business College graduate, and first worked as an executive secretary to the law firm of Renner and Toomey. In 1944, she married Charles Carson, and they moved to Mansfield in 1946. Among several job opportunities, she worked at the Mansfield Branch of The Ohio State University, and the United Telephone Co. where she was secretary to the CEO. She was a MedCentral Gray Lady Volunteer for over 30 years. She volunteered at the daycare of her church as a tutor and piano accompanist. Margaret was very active in the First Christian Church as a Deaconess, a member of the Women's Fellowship and a longtime member of the Chapel Choir. Her hobbies included music, golf and bowling and was a member of Sweet Adelines Women's Chorus as well as several sports leagues. Margaret was a good wife and mother.
Surviving are her husband, Charles M. Carson; her children, Jim Marcia Carson of Apex, NC, Carol Glen Konet of Middleburg Heights, OH and John Carson of Coral Gables, FL; grandchildren, Mike Erin Konet of Chicago, IL, Greg Carson of Burbank, CA, Steve Konet of Chicago, IL, Trent Carson of New York, NY and Christi Chad Christenson of Whitesborough, TX; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Steven; a granddaughter, Kelly Carson; and a grandson, Marc Carson.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2008, at First Christian Church conducted by Rev. Chris Whitehead. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Philadelphia, OH.
