She grew up in Galion, Ohio graduating with the Galion class of 1947. As a young lady, she taught Sunday School at Peace Lutheran Church in Galion, enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball and loved to dance. She met her future husband, John, on the dance floor and they were married at Peace Lutheran Church on March 7, 1954. They settled together in Mansfield, and had two sons who were her pride and joy - Mark is a retired Navy admiral married to Luana (Ammons) and living in Portsmouth, Virginia, and Tony is a computer software developer married to Pam (Briner) and living in North Ridgeville, Ohio.
Jody enjoyed bowling in several area bowling leagues and worked until she was 85 years old as a commercial insurance writer with Galion Insurance Service and then Parr Insurance Agency of Crestline. The last several years she lived on her own in Ontario, enjoying the company of her Deerfield neighbors, joining monthly luncheons with Galion class of ’47 alumni and participating as a Daughter of the American Revolution with the DAR Jared Mansfield Chapter. She has been a member of St Timothy Lutheran Church of Mansfield since 1959 and was known by us all for her caring and compassionate good heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Marjorie and Dorothy and husband John.
She is survived by her sons and their families including four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date at St. Timothy Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to either the Jared Mansfield (Ohio) chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution or to St Timothy Lutheran Church of Mansfield, Ohio.
