Born on February 23, 1938, in Ontario, Ohio, to the late Richard and Viola (Harris) Ernsberger, Marge spent her entire life in the Ontario-Mansfield area. A true farm girl at heart, she grew up surrounded by nature, working and playing on her grandparents' farm with her four brothers and three sisters.
A proud graduate of Ontario High School, Marge lived a life filled with simple joys and deep love. She had a passion for puzzles, gardening, bingo, poker, and reading Amish novels. She found her greatest happiness in the kitchen, where she lovingly prepared meals for anyone who walked through her door. Feeding people was her love language—no one ever left her home hungry.
Marge spent 23 years working as a housekeeper at Mansfield General Hospital, where she was known for her dedication and warm spirit. In her later years, she enjoyed the quiet beauty of nature—especially sitting on her porch, watching the birds she so faithfully fed.
Marge is survived by her loving children: son Charles (Deniece) Jeffries; daughters Debra Lawrence, Kimberly (Eathan) Thompson, and Christie (William) Core; and son William Bishop; her sisters, Patricia Kane and Penny (Robert) Turner. She also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Walter Bishop; her daughter, Sandra (Michael) Hennecy; her son-in-law, Joseph Lawrence; her brothers, Richard, Loren, Paul, and Robert Ernsberger; brother-in-law Gene Kane, and her great-grandson, Gavin Lawrence.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Madison City Mobile Home Park located at 1135 Evergreen Avenue, Mansfield, Ohio.
In honor of Marge's love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to the Richland County Humane Society.
