
Mark Harper, Jr., 73, passed away early Sunday morning, December 5, 2010 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born August 16, 1937, in Mansfield, he was the son of the late Myrtle Walker and Mark Harper, Sr. Mark was a veteran of the U.S. Army. A man who was always busy, he began his working career in the produce department at Great Scot and T&A Saveway before working at White-Westinghouse, retiring after 26 years. Mark enjoyed softball, darts and bowling and was an avid OSU fan. He most enjoyed spending time with his wife and family and attending First Friends Church.
He is survived by two sons, William Harper of Mansfield and Mark Harper of Bucyrus; brothers, Cecil Janet Harper and Carl Harper Pat Stotts, all of Mansfield; sister, Doneen Bruce Poulton of Texas; sister-in-law, Margie Daily of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary M. Harper on September 27, 2010; brother, James Daily; and sisters, Ilene Echols Gardner and Beth Smith.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road with visitation from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Rev. Richard Pass will be conducting the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park with military honors by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
