Marsha Berkshire, 74, of Galion, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday morning, June 24, 2017, at Kingston of Ashland Nursing Home. She was born December 18, 1942, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Elmer and Chloe (Ferguson) Gottfried.
A sweet and giving woman, her first priority was to help others, which fit perfectly at her career as a case worker with Morrow County Job and Family Services. She worked there for 13 years and helped countless individuals in so many ways throughout the years. Marsha belonged to a neighborhood sewing club and was a big supporter of the good done through Alcoholics Anonymous. Camping, traveling and being outdoors were favorite activities. Most of all, being with her family and friends, including furry ones, brought her great joy. On June 30, she and her husband, Bill Berkshire, would have celebrated 55 wonderful years together.
Marsha is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Berkshire; three children, Kip (Lana) Berkshire of Mansfield, Daryl Berkshire of Caledonia, OH and Karla (Joe) Martin of Lewiston, ID; five grandchildren and their families, David (Julie) Sullivan, Stephanie (John) Fidler, Billy (Brittney) Hartman, Logann Martin and Sydney Martin; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Beverly Brenneman and Janet Helbig.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family to help defray medical and funeral costs. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
