
Mary Amanda 'Granny' Caudill, 91, of Mansfield, died Thursday, June 22, 2006. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior after creating a lifetime of memories for her children. She was born May 14, 1915, in eastern Kentucky. Mary was affectionately known to many that loved her as 'Granny'. She married the love of her life, John Earthel 'Grandad' Caudill on November 9, 1932. Granny devoted her life to him, her children and to the service of God. She was a founding member of the Wyandotte Free Will Baptist Church. Granny loved spending time teaching her children to enjoy life by worshipping God, cooking and most of all, fishing on the riverbank.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing, many friends, as well as her sister, Jewel John Boggs of Carter County, Ky.; one daughter, with whom she made her home, Virginia Roberta Caudill; four sons, Dewey Lee Ruth Caudill, Billy Joe Wanda Caudill, all of Mansfield, Robert Dale Robin Caudill of Shelby, and John Arlon Peggy Caudill of Hitchens, Ky.; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; seven great-great grandchildren; and one step-great-great grandchild. Awaiting her arrival in heaven is her husband, John and their son, Ulysses Ray. She was also preceded in death by six sisters, Opal and Grettie Haye, Lessie Baker, Verna Bair, Evelyn Withrow, and one brother, Dewey Haye.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Sunday, June 25, from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Wyandotte Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by her pastor, Brian A. Phillips and assisted by Pastor Bruce Copley and her great-grandson, Rev. Adam Hedge. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wyandotte Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund.
