

Mary J. Knapp, 79, formerly of Bartley Avenue, Mansfield, died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at MedCentral Mansfield. Born December 6, 1933 in Shelby, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Basil W. and E. Jeannette (Kinsell) Knapp. She moved to Mansfield at a young age and graduated from St. Peters Catholic High School in 1951. She retired from Ohio Brass after 40 years of service.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #16, AARP #17 and the Daughters of Isabella where she worked her way up to become the Ohio State Treasurer. She also tutored at Prospect Elementary School for many years and is a member of St. Peters Catholic Church.
She is survived by a brother, James Basil (Carolyn) Knapp of Mansfield; four nephews, Rick Knapp of Pickerington, Ohio, Steve (Kim) Knapp of Ontario, Jeff (Kim) Knapp of Crestline and Kris (Shelly) Knapp of Ontario; two grand nephews, Kevin and Tyler Knapp; and four grand nieces, Stephanie, Courtney, Allyson and Abigail Knapp. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at St. Peter's Catholic Church by Father Gregory Hite. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Shelby. Friends may call one hour prior to the Mass, from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or St. Peter's Catholic Church.
