

Mary Jane Beard Stamper, 96, of Mansfield, passed away Friday afternoon, August 5, 2016, at Crystal Care Nursing Home. She was born July 3, 1920, in Jellico, Tennessee, one of eight children of the late Joe and Maggie (Hammons) Meadows.
Mary Jane was a hard worker and had previously worked at Mansfield Tire and Rubber Co. and Ideal Electric. She spent the beginning of her retirement years in Florida, where she enjoyed the sunshine and, especially, the fishing. She then moved to Kentucky, living there for a number of years. Wanting to spend more time with her son and grandchildren brought her back to Mansfield. In her free time she enjoyed gardening and traveling.
She is survived by her son, Donald (Lou) Beard of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Jesse Beard, Wendy (Tye) Christy and Gerard Ward; two step grandchildren, Scott and Tim Stamper; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell A. Beard; second husband, E. Wilson Stamper; five brothers; and two sisters.
The family will receive friends from 2:30-4:00 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2016, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Olive Hill, Kentucky, at a later date.
