Mathis Pounds

Mathis had a great love for his grandchildren of which he helped to raise. He worked in construction building bridges for Minuway Construction and attended Mount Herman Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and picnics.

Surviving are his wife, Jeweline Pounds; children, Jerry Pounds and his ex-wife, Linda, Jewell (Robert) Melton, Myra (Wallace) Winham, and Steve (Debby) Pounds; grandchildren, Kenya Pounds, Shantell Jackson, Alonzo Jackson, Lyrics Winham, Tangie Winham, Wallace Winham Jr., Tony, Nasha, Jeromey, Antonio, Patrick, Erika, Eric, Kevin, Demyona, Paige, and Ron Pounds; a host of great-grandchildren; sisters, Ada Metcalf and Obelia Smith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by daughter, Denise Pounds; eight brothers; and two sisters.

Family will receive friends from 10:00am-12:00pm on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Road. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in Mansfield Cemetery.
