Peter Grassel

Peter Grassel, 87, of Mansfield died Thursday, January 29, 2004 at Woodlawn Nursing Home. Mr. Grassel was born March 11, 1916 in Mansfield, Ohio. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church. He loved woodworking, gardening and golf. Mr. Grassel was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Clarabelle Swendal Grassel; two sons and daughters-in-law, Pete & Betty Grassel and Jerry & Susan Grassel; grandchildren, Tim Grassel, Jenni Grassel, Suzanne Welsh, Ken Stone, Joe Stone and Rebecca Whitley; a great-grandchild, Reid Welsh; two sisters, Kathryn Ammeter and Rose Scheibling; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy White, Mary Swendal and Margaret Grassel; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Elizabeth Keller Grassel; three brothers, Al, John and Joe Grassel; and a sister, Theresa Grassel.

Friends may call two hours prior to memorial services to be held at First English Lutheran Church Monday, February 2, 2004 at 12:00 noon conducted by Rev. Cloyd Kress and Rev. Paul L. Larson. Private family military graveside services will precede the memorial service at Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice or American Heart Association. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.
