
Rachel E. Bishop Brewer, 84, of Baltimore, Ohio died Friday morning, November 22, 2002 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio following a brief illness. Mrs. Brewer was born May 1, 1918 in Centerburg, Ohio to Arthur and Elizabeth Rinehart Bishop. She was a childcare provider and was a past member of Main Street United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Child Guidance Club, Women's Auxiliary of Mohican Sailing Club, and Women's Auxiliary of Mansfield Power Squadron. Rachel held offices and was very active in the PTA and liked to read, sew, and quilt.
She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Kay E. Watson and James Toney, family friend, of Columbus, Ohio, Rae E. Doyle of Houston, Texas, and Brenda E. and Donald Merkich of Kinsman, Ohio; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Esther Woerth of Mansfield; a sister-in-law and her husband, Eva and Edgar Berkshire; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Bishop and Mary Bishop, both of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burke E. Brewer; parents; three brothers, Wendell, Miller, and Allen Bishop; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Kathryn and Melvin Mowery.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors one hour prior to funeral services that will be held Tuesday, November 26 at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. David A. Gilbert. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
