

Born March 11, 1929 in Crestline, Ohio, he was the son of the late Howard Eichhorn Miller and Minnie N. (Schwert) Miller. Dr. Miller graduated from Crestline High School in 1947. He attended Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, transferred to The Ohio State University where he attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture in 1953. He was accepted into the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1953 and received the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1957. Upon graduation, Dr. Miller associated with Dr. Ben S. Henson in Mansfield and later Dr. L.P. Bailey in Piqua, Ohio. In 1960 he established his practice on Ashland Road, Mansfield, Ohio where he designed and built the Ashland Road Animal Clinic and retired from that practice in 1997.
He married Patricia L. (Thompson) Miller in Galion, Ohio on December 28, 1952. She survives him along with his three sons, Steven M. (Penny) Miller of Columbus, Ohio, Jeffrey T. (Amy) Miller of Mansfield, Ohio and Kirk R. Miller of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Broc A. Miller of Bellville, Ohio and Ashley N. Miller of Mansfield, Ohio; sister, Jacqueline N. Mersereau of Norwalk, Ohio; and nephews, Mark Mersereau, Peter Mersereau and Joel Mersereau.
He was a life member of The Ohio State University Alumni Association, Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, 50 year member of Arcana Lodge 272 F.&A.M., longtime member of the Richland County V.M.A., North Central Ohio V.M.A., American V.M.A., N.R.A., Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Mansfield Aviation Club, American Bonanza Society, past member of Mansfield Men’s Garden Club, Rotary Club of Mansfield, Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, Omega Tau Sigma veterinary professional fraternity, Phi Zeta, Veterinary Scholastic Honor Society.
A strong lifetime interest in aviation allowed him to earn a commercial pilot license with multi-engine and instrument ratings. Throughout the years he owned and flew three different airplanes, the last of which, a Beechcraft Bonanza which he flew for 33 years. He and his wife were privileged to fly throughout the United States and Canada.
