
Richard 'Dick' Donald Stanton, 65, of Shelby, died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Hospice House in Ashland. Born August 13, 1942 in Hartford, Connecticut, he was the son of Donald R. and Elizabeth Page Stanton. He was the owner and agent of his Shelby State Farm Insurance Office for 33 years. Dick was a member of Shelby Masonic Lodge #350 F & AM, the Aladdin Shriner's Club, the Pipe and Drum Band and was often seen driving in many parades in his T-Totaller car. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a volunteer Deputy Bailiff for Shelby Municipal Court and had also been a member of the Richland County Sheriff's Auxiliary. Dick enjoyed traveling, fishing, socializing and being with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Alma Wilson Stanton; son, Gavin Scott Stanton of West Milton, OH; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Andrew Baumker of Plainfield, IL; three grandchildren, Caroline, Gavin and Elizabeth Baumker; father, Donald Lois Stanton of Springhill, FL; brother, Dr. Robert Betty Stanton of Pensacola, FL; sister, Donna Wendell Corley of Crawfordville, FL; a niece, Amanda Stanton; and three nephews, Scott, Steven and Christopher Stanton. His mother preceded him in death.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45229-3095.
