

A 1961 graduate of Mansfield Senior High, Bob received his Bachelor's degree from Ashland University and his Master's degree from LaVern College in California.
Bob was proud to be a teacher at Crevling Elementary for ten years and John Sherman Elementary for eight years and was a member of the Mansfield, Ohio and National Education Associations. He was a trustee for Hanley Acres Water Association for ten years and helped organize and coordinate the Neighborhood Watch Program there. He wrote the monthly neighborhood newsletter for 25 years, having lived in the neighborhood for 44 years, Bob truly enjoyed his neighbors. While his children were growing, he helped coach his son's Little League and regularly attended his children's athletic and academic functions.
Bob also was the owner of Kaufman Sewing Machine Company, retiring in 2002 following 15 years of service. He loved being outdoors especially in the winter and was able to find the humor in his time spent at the Cardiac Rehab as a patient. He was a fun-loving man who enjoyed making others laugh ~ he will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dotty (Davis) Kaufman whom he married June 18, 1966; a daughter, Susan (Joe) Huml of Hinkley, Ohio; a son, Jeffrey (Amy) Kaufman of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren, Abby, Maddy, Charlie, Owen and Gareth; and a sister, Elaine (Gerald) Johnson and their four children. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 at the funeral home conducted by Dr. David Aune. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
