
Robert Doyt Crowe, 81, of Bonita Springs, Florida died Sunday, December 16, 2001 at Naples Community Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Crowe was born September 8, 1920 in Martel, Ohio. He graduated from Centerburg High School in 1939 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1940. He served in the Pacific Theater during WWII with Ohio's famed 37th Division, 112th Medical Battalion. Mr. Crowe was employed by the Charles Hoffman Plumbing Company in Mansfield and later moved to Upper Arlington, Ohio where he was employed with the Steffens and Schultz Company. He retired in 1984 as a factory representative with the B.W.A. Company, Inc. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, Venus Lodge of Mansfield, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus, Ohio and Aladdin Shrine Temple of Columbus. Robert and Miriam made Bonita Springs, Florida their permanent home in 2000 after dividing their time between Upper Arlington and Florida for 16 years. Mr. Crowe was an active representative of the Florida Federation of Manufactured Home Owners, Inc.
He is survived by his wife, Miriam Linder Crowe, whom he married March 23, 1946; a daughter and son-in-law, Jodene & David Stauffer; two granddaughters, Jessica and Jennifer Carter; and two step grandchildren, Rick and Erika Stauffer of St. Louis, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles C. & Bessie Chonier Crowe; two sisters, Pauline Crowe and Cleaown DeYarmon; and a brother, Paul Crowe.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors one hour prior to funeral services to be held Thursday, December 20, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Jeff Croft. Military services will be held at Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 1436 Royal Palm Blvd., Fort Myers, Florida 33904 or the American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria Virginia 22116.
