

Roland J. Constance, 86, of Mansfield, Ohio, went to be with his Lord, Tuesday morning, January 9, 2018, at Signature of Galion. He was born November 11, 1931, in Mansfield, Ohio, one of three sons of the late John C. and Bertha (Haycook) Constance.
Affectionately known as "Skip" since he was a child, he graduated from Madison High School in 1950. He then joined, and faithfully served in, the Air National Guard. Skip was employed as a construction engineer at several area businesses and was a gifted carpenter and woodworker. He loved being outdoors and enjoying nature at it's finest. His pride and joy was a 1979 Honda motorcycle that he restored and he enjoyed many outings on that bike. Skip enjoyed taking as many trips as possible with his children and grandchildren.
One of the greatest joys he gave to his children was accepting Christ as his Savior. Worshipping together with him at Storyside Church was a blessing to each of them that brings immense joy and comfort to their lives.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia D. Byerly Constance; five children, Gary (Diana) Constance of Lebanon, OH, Diane (Mike) Ousley of Mansfield, Jennifer (Bill) Fininis of Hoffman Estates, IL, James (Patti) Constance of Lucas, OH and Matthew Constance (fiancee`, Kristi Burley) of Mansfield; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Joann) Constance of Boiling Springs, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Robert "Bob" Constance.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. The funeral service conducted by Rev. Dallas E. Waggle will be held in the funeral home Friday at 11:00 a.m. with additional visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Cemetery immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
