Sally Smith

Sally W. Smith, 79, passed away Friday, January 7, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Florida. Born August 10, 1931 in Carter City, Kentucky, she is the daughter of the late Faith and Herbert Haney. Sally owned and operated a beauty salon in California for several years. In 1992, she moved from Mansfield to Willard, Ohio, living there until 2004. She then spent the next 18 months traveling the United States with her husband, Lawrence, in their motor home, settling in Florida in October of 2005.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Lawrence Smith of Plant City, FL; sons, Robert and Bill Birch; stepchildren, Gary Smith and Kaye Ann Jeff Hughes; a sister, Mary Fraley of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four nieces; and six nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Rev. Bonnie Peltomaa will conduct the service. Friends may visit two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
