

Samuel W. Poth, 66, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at his home. He was born January 3, 1945 in Mansfield. Samuel worked for Mansfield Tire, law enforcement, Goetz Hardware, Richland Newhope and retired from RICI as a guard. He was known throughout Mansfield as the “Lawn Mower Man”, a hobby he truly enjoyed. Samuel was also a member of the Owls. He never met a stranger and had a wonderful infectious laugh that would make you smile and laugh with him.
He is survived by his wife, Debra (Rittinger) Poth of Mansfield; daughters, Jill (Jason) Boyd of Lexington and Amy (Daniel) Kalb of Van Nuys, CA; step son, Michael (Crystal) Brown of Michigan; step daughter, Whitney Brown of North Carolina; grandchildren, Blake and Hannah Boyd, Melia and Haven Kalb, and Megan and Ryan Brown; brother, Robert Poth of Bellville; step mother, Betty Poth of Hemet, CA; special friends, Dean “Smitty” Smith and Sue Neal; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Harold Poth, Jr; mother, Madge Irene (Beverage) Poth; and his infant son, Randy J. Poth.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 11:00 at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, conducted by Rev. Carl W. Cunfer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Dr., Ashland, OH 44805.
