Scott graduated from Crestview High School where he played multiple sports. He then graduated from Muskingum College. He was the owner of Island Ice on Put-in-Bay and The Corner Bar in Mansfield and was formerly a carpet layer. He loved sports especially the Cleveland Browns.
He is survived by his father, Bill Hairston of Mansfield; his brother, Butch Hairston of Mansfield whom Butch considered him a good brother; aunts, uncles and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Hairston.
