As a child, Chris’ family moved to Lawton, Oklahoma, where Chris graduated from Lawton High School in 1970. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, where he met his first wife. They married, and after he graduated in 1974, they moved to Pasadena, Texas so Chris could pursue an education in marine biology. However, he soon instead began a career with Shell Oil, and relocated to Alief, Texas, where they had their first child, Cameron.
In 1976, Chris received a promotion and moved his family to Monticello, Iowa, where their second child, Colin, was born. They stayed until 1986 when Chris took an opportunity to pursue his dream of owning a campground and purchased a KOA in Mt. Gilead, Ohio. He operated the campground for 20 years, where he loved meeting new people, talking to old friends, and enjoying the outdoors.
Always interested in science, Chris was also a substitute teacher at local schools. He delighted in showing his students fun science experiments and relishing their reactions.
In more recent years, Chris owned rental properties in Mansfield, and co-owned a fundraising company with his partner and friend, Jason Bell. He was a congregant of Lincoln Heights Baptist Church, to whom he was very grateful for the care they provided after a house fire. He loved, more than anything, spending time with his sons and grandchildren.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sons, Cameron (Sarah) Hansen and Colin (Katie) Hansen; his grandchildren, Ian, Gabe, Kaylee, and Ellee; and his brother, Clyde (Donna) Hansen.
