Vernon Parker

Vernon R. Parker, 66, of Mansfield, died Friday, December 26, 2008 at his home. Born December 10, 1942 in Richland County, he was the son of Isaac and Isabelle McCall Parker. He graduated from Madison High School in 1960 and served in the Army National Guard. Vernon retired from Mansfield Products. An avid softball player and bowler, he also loved to fish and had a great love for his family.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Beverly Cochran Parker; son, Bob Loraine Parker of Lucas; three grandchildren, Jason Keen, Amber Hoover, and Derek Smith; four great-grandchildren, Alec, Luke, Alexis, and Logan; his loving companion, Sadie; brother, Raymond Parker of Mansfield; and sister, Carol Mel McNeely of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by three brothers, David, Charles, and Isaac Parker; and sister, Shirley Rodgers.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Mansfield. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Gary Streiff. Military services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
