
Virginia M. Marchant, 71, of Mansfield, died Tuesday evening, January 4, 2005, at Mansfield Memorial Homes after an extended illness. Born April 27, 1933, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of the late Erwin Jr. and Florence Langdon Maus. An area resident since 1949, Virginia enjoyed antiquing and jewelry making. She retired from Charles Ritter Company where she was employed as an interior decorator. She was a member of the Mansfield Art Center and loved cats.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gar and Beth Marchant of Mansfield; two daughters, Gwen Marchant and Gay Marchant, both of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Stephanie Tim Elias, Seth Marchant, Neely M. Smith, Adam Marchant, all of Mansfield, and Jeremy Nicole Marchant of Cincinnati. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married September 8, 1951, Jay Marchant in July 2002, son Greg, and brother, Erwin Maus III.
Burial will be at a later date in Mansfield Cemetery. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Richland County Humane Society.
